Funeral, Celebration of Life, Living Funeral
or Direct Cremation Ceremony

I'm Celebrant Sue from Chesterfield Derbyshire.   I know that saying goodbye is never easy.   As a funeral celebrant I work closely with families to create dignified, compassionate ceremonies that honour loved ones as they deserve to be.  It will be a celebration of a life well lived, a ceremony that truly reflects the person that you have lost, honouring their story with humour, dignity, warmth, love and compassion.

Direct Cremation is becoming an increasingly popular choice for families seeking a simple, more affordable and straightforward way to handle end of life arrangements.   Unlike traditional funerals, it allows for flexibility and removes the pressure of immediate ceremonies.   However, many families still feel the need to honour and say goodbye to their loved ones.   For those families, a Celebration of Life can provide a meaningful opportunity to gather, share memories and commemorate a life well lived, on their own terms and timeline.   This approach combines the simplicity of direct cremation with the heartfelt connection of a communal farewell.

When I sit down to create a piece for a funeral, I begin with the person at the very heart of it all.   I always start by listening, I want to hear the stories, the little details that will bring that person to life on paper.   Every life holds a unique story, a mix of moments that spark laughter, tears and everything in between.  My aim is to capture that story in a way that truly honours them with dignity, while surrounding those who gather with a sense of love, compassion and also pride, proud to have been a part of that person's life.

Humour often finds its place too, not in a way that diminishes the grief, but in a way that celebrates the quirks, the smiles and the joyful spirit that made someone who they were.   A smile shared in the middle of sorrow can be such a gift.  Warmth is essential too, warmth will be woven throughout, so that those listening feel comforted and held, even in sorrow.

When I spend time with family and friends, it's never rushed or watched by the clock.   If the grief feels too heavy, we stop.   I'll put the kettle on and if it helps , we'll simply continue another day.   This time together matters and it needs space.   Sometimes I too may become a little overwhelmed, but that's because I care, I'm human just like you and I always bring plenty of tissues.

For me, it's never just about writing, it's about creating something that feels true, something that holds love, eases pain and helps people feel connected in the midst of that pain.   Together, we'll celebrate a life well lived and Forever and Always beautifully remembered.

So, if you agree that I will honour your loved one as they truly deserve to be honoured, then let's talk, get in touch....
